Writers covering the Pac-10/Pac-12 seem to think that the
conference wouldn't be interested in TCU. I found an article that talks about Hawai'i's interest in joining the Pac-12. What I found interesting about the article is the following excerpt:
"Larry Scott has already said expansion is pretty much done for the near future. The only way he could probably be enticed back to the table is if a Texas-Oklahoma alliance brought Texas Tech and Oklahoma State back with them to revive the possibility of a Pac-16."
If TCU is as hot of commodity as you seem to think, then why would the Pac-12 be open to becoming the Pac-16 by adding a school from Lubbock especially when the western half of the state doesn't have a huge TV market value? I am not suggesting that TCU doesn't offer more in terms of athletic value. It just appears that the Pac-12 (like the Big Ten) may prefer to add public universities over private universities for whatever reason. Plus, the jury may still be out on whether the members of the conference view TCU as a religious affiliated school or not. At least I don't think you will find anything publicly disclosed because it could put the conference and whatever schools at risk for a discrimination lawsuit.
